New York Class Trip

I went to New York last week with my International Program students. We had great weather. Our itinerary was pretty full: Times Square, Central Park, 5th Avenue, Madame Tussaud, Top of the Rock, Wall Street, Statue of Liberty, 9-11 Memorial, Chinatown, Little Italy, Harlem Gospel Mass, USS Intrepid and lastly Broadway Theatre to see the musical Mama Mia. We decided to do the Top of the Rock after sundown. I really enjoyed it. I could have stayed up there all night it was so beautiful and peaceful.

Very big days, up early and back at the hotel after 10 p.m. We were with 60 students. The main objective of this trip was to have them practice their English. I am their English teacher. They are all aged 15. Of course, we had to take care of a few sick students: sunstroke, car/bus sick, and a couple other problems, but all in all, it was a nice time.

Even though I've been traveling for over 20 years with students, I still really enjoy it. We always try to travel with Voyage A+. From my experience, they are the company that provides the best service in Quebec for student travel.

We stayed in New Jersey at the Best Western Riverside. The accomodations were nice, but the staff seemed a little disturbed by our presence. Our students are very well behaved and apart from a little running in the halls the first night, were quiet.

We had a wonderful bus driver. His name was André. He knew all the shortcuts and was always pleased to serve us. Since we were with 2 buses, the other driver's name was Rémi and he was really nice too. What a treat to just sit back and enjoy the smooth ride.

Already looking forward to the next trip with 110 students this time, to Toronto at the end of May!
